Les Vignes

Les Vignes is within walking distance of the charming medieval village of Goult, whose cobbled streets lead to several fine dining restaurants, an award-winning cafe, delightful shops, and a landmark 9th century church.

Grounds: meticulously landscaped gardens of mature olive, almond, plane, quince, and fig trees with lush lavender, climbing roses, and box hedges. The shaded courtyard off the main living area serves as an outdoor dining room, and an additional side courtyard with an ancient well looks over a wide lawn, perfect for sunset croquet. The lower terrace features a vine-covered stone pool house and a private 6m x 12m mosaic pool.

Interior: Professionally decorated with comfortable, high quality furniture, art, and antiques. Features locally mined white limestone floors, restored plaster walls, and open-beamed ceilings.

Lower level: large living room with grand fireplace and French doors opening onto main courtyard; gourmet kitchen with state-of-the-art Paul Bocouse gas range, two ovens, dishwasher, and all dishes, implements and appliances; dining room with antique table seating 8; full bath and laundry; quiet study with antique desk and courtyard views; full ensuite guest quarters (queen bed/sleeps 2) with separate entrance and private courtyard.

Second level: master bedroom with king bed, antique wardrobes, vineyard and valley views, and fabulous adjoining bath; guest bedroom (queen bed/sleeps 2) with terrace and valley views; guest bedroom 2 (king or two twins) with forest and vineyard views; guest bathroom with tub and hand shower.

Locale

In the Luberon region of Provence, which is where Peter Mayle wrote his 'A Year in Provence'. It is an hour north of Marseille and close to Avignon, Arles, Aix, Nimes, the Camargue, Orange, Mont Ventoux, St Remy and the Rhone wine trail. In summer there are art festivals everywhere, from the famous one at Avignon, to the international piano festival at La Roque d'Antheron, to small local events. Goult has the well-loved Cafe de la Poste in its square, which is where locals and visitors gather for a coffee or meal, some good restaurants, and small shops like a bakery, butcher and greengrocer. Just minutes from Gordes, Roussillon and Bonnieux.
