One of the first thoughts that come to mind when one mentions Provence are its outdoor markets loaded with everything from succulent fresh olives, cheese and salami, to fabric, and local handicrafts. In many ways, the markets of Provence represent the region's very heart and soul rooted in the earth, and its bountiful produce. The comraderie among the market stall vendors is unmistakable as they share sips of wine and bread a cheese hours before midday. Each village has its own morning market on a different day of the week, some large and some small. All represent a significant part of Provencal life that still exists in a very real way today.
